Mad about crazy Facebook quizzes

KUALA LUMPUR: The questions range from "How fragrant is your flatulence?" to "How emotional are you?".

Other local quizzes include "How Johorian are you?", "How much mas kahwin (dowry) should you give" or "Do you know the late P. Ramlee and his movies", to name a few.

And thousands of Malaysians take part in these Facebook quizzes almost every other day.

These quizzes, too, are current. Take for example the one on which ministry the quiz taker would lead. The quiz appeared the week Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced his cabinet line-up.

Another quiz asked Facebook members what type of leaders they were and the answers ranged from former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to opposition leader Lim Kit Siang.
A quiz creator said he was doing it for fun.

"People are naturally curious and want to know more about themselves. No matter how silly the quiz may sound, Malaysians are sure to take part in it," said the 32 year-old computer junkie.

He said Malaysians also loved to know which colour represented them or which sex position they were likely to assume. . The list goes on to "How Malaysian they are" or to more serious ones such as "We walk with Eli" and "Malaysia Corruption Information".

There are some who have created quizzes to inform Facebook members of their characters and their partners' or the type of persons they would marry.

One quiz on the right holiday destination under Cuti Cuti Malaysia had hilarious results including the national museum, a shopping mall in Perak and picnicking at a football field at a non-existent school.

Another creator of an outdoor activity with thousands of members said Facebook was the fastest growing and the most effective network.

"The best way to have thousands of people as members is by opening up an account as a society in Facebook and thousands would join in.

"It is so effective. If I were to post a statement, I would instantly get responses. Some are very open about their opinions. It helps me to get answers," he said.

Some of the popular outdoor societies are Malaysia Entrepreneurs and Malaysia Outdoor Trekking Hiking Society.

However, Monash University and Sunway Medical Centre consultant clinical psychologist Paul Jambunathan feels people should not take the quizzes seriously.

"We do not know the background of the people creating the quizzes. Some do it for fun while others could be psychologically unbalanced.

"We do not know their real intention. And the results could worsen a person's condition especially for those who suffer from low self-esteem and emotional intelligence."

He said some of the quizzes on career, sex and emotional intelligence might be well intended but those who created them might not be qualified.

He said the quizzes also lacked scientific research.

Jambunathan, who has been a psychologist for 30 years, said some of the results could leave emotional scars as there were no professional follow-ups.

He said Facebook members deprived themselves of "real socialising and networking" with others by spending hours in front of the computers.

kalo masa aku bz... bukak FB pun tak sempat

tapi... kekadang... ada gak.. kuiz yg sengal tak hengat
rasa cam nak hempuk2 jer
orang yg create kuiz tu kan...

dah le tu... jawapan kekadang cam gamps* jer....
tapo yg pelik tu....
